Regular maintenance for all stone tops: Wipe off anything spilled immediately. Occasionally wash surfaces with lukewarm water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Wiping surfaces with a damp chamois will not leave streaks.
Use coasters under beverage glasses and heat pads/place mats should be used when placing hot cookware on the surface. Stone is heat resistant and can withstand exposure to hot or cold temperatures, but sudden and extreme temperature changes can cause permanent damage to benchtops.
The use of cutting boards and taking care not drop heavy objects on the surface will help to ensure the long lasting beauty of the stone.
Periodic maintenance: Use a good quality sealer every couple of years. Sealers properly selected can be extremely beneficial in the protection, ongoing maintenance and longevity of the stone. What sealers do is “give you time to react”, meaning that you have a period of time allowing easy removal before the stain gets into the stone.
By following these simple procedures, you will always keep that benchtop looking like the stunning masterpiece of nature that it is.
